The short answer
EB-2 is for people with an advanced degree (a master's or higher, or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive experience) in a job that needs it, or people with exceptional ability. Most cases need a job offer and a labor certification (PERM).
What to know
- The job must require the advanced degree, and you must meet it.
- The employer usually completes a PERM labor certification first, then files Form I-140.
- Exceptional ability is a separate route with its own evidence.
- The National Interest Waiver can skip the job offer in some cases.
