The short answer
The Visa Bulletin is published every month by the State Department. It shows which priority dates can move forward in each family and employment green card category, by country. This site shows the latest bulletin with arrows for what moved.
What to know
- Find your category and your country of birth column.
- If your priority date is earlier than the date shown (or the category says C for current), your turn has come.
- There are two charts: Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing.
- Dates can move forward, stay still or go back.
For the exact rules, forms and fees, see the State Department visa website.
Visa Status is an unofficial site. This is general information in plain words, not legal advice. Rules, fees and forms change, so check the official website and your own papers. Written October 2026.
